Version 2 · Effective October 20, 2026 · Middlesex Notary Co LLC d/b/a CIVIL CONSTABLE
This Legal Disclaimer applies to civilconstable.com, the client portal, the Document Center, the website assistant and all communications from Middlesex Notary Co LLC d/b/a CIVIL CONSTABLE (“CIVIL CONSTABLE,” “we,” “us”). It should be read together with our Terms and Conditions.
1. Nature of the Business
CIVIL CONSTABLE is a private Massachusetts business that provides civil process service and documented delivery of legal documents through a Massachusetts constable and, where applicable, other persons authorized by law or appointed by a court.
2. Not a Law Firm or Government Agency
CIVIL CONSTABLE is not a law firm, a court, a clerk’s office, a sheriff’s department or a government agency, and it does not act on behalf of any court or government agency. No attorney-client relationship is created by your use of this website, by any communication with us, or by any service we perform.
3. No Legal Advice
3.1 CIVIL CONSTABLE does not provide legal advice. We do not select legal forms or procedures, calculate legal deadlines, determine whether a document is legally sufficient, determine who must be served or by what method, or advise on legal strategy.
3.2 When we review a request, we determine only whether we can lawfully and practically perform the assignment. That review is not an evaluation of your legal position and is not a representation that service will satisfy the law or the requirements of a court.
4. General Information Only
Summaries of Massachusetts and federal law on this website, in the Document Center and provided by the website assistant are general information for orientation only. Statements of law refer to their official sources, which are listed on our Legal Sources page. Laws, court rules and standing orders change, and their application depends on the facts. You should read the official text and consult a licensed Massachusetts attorney about your situation. The Massachusetts Trial Court offers procedural information to the public through its Court Service Centers.
5. Authority Limited by Law
A Massachusetts constable’s authority to serve civil process is conferred and limited by statute. A bonded constable may serve writs and process in personal actions within the appointing city or town, up to dollar limits that depend on the constable’s bond (G.L. c. 41, § 92), and may serve demands, notices and citations by attested copy (G.L. c. 41, § 94). CIVIL CONSTABLE does not claim unlimited authority throughout Massachusetts. We accept an assignment only after confirming that it can be performed by a person with the required authority, and we decline or refer assignments we cannot lawfully perform. See Coverage and Authority.
6. No Guarantee of Outcome
CIVIL CONSTABLE does not guarantee that a recipient will be located, will accept papers or will be served in hand; that service will be completed by a particular date; that a court will accept a return of service; or any legal result. Submitting a request does not mean that it has been accepted. An attempt is not completed service.
7. Templates and Forms
Templates prepared by CIVIL CONSTABLE and offered in the Document Center are not official court forms and have not been approved by any court. Official forms are identified together with their source. Any form should be used only after review by your attorney or the court.
8. Fees Set by Law
Certain fees for the service of civil process are prescribed by statute (G.L. c. 262, § 8). Your written quote identifies any statutory fee component separately from other charges.
9. External Links
Links to court websites, statutes and other third-party resources are provided for convenience. CIVIL CONSTABLE does not control those websites and is not responsible for their content or availability.
