Version 3 · Effective October 20, 2026 · Middlesex Notary Co LLC d/b/a CIVIL CONSTABLE
This Cookie Policy describes the cookies and browser storage used by civilconstable.com, the client portal at portal.civilconstable.com and the administration area operated by Middlesex Notary Co LLC d/b/a CIVIL CONSTABLE (“CIVIL CONSTABLE,” “we,” “us”), and the choices available to you. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. Summary
- We use two essential cookies: a session cookie, set when you use a form, sign in or open the website assistant, and a security cookie, set when you sign in, that recognises your browser.
- We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, social-media plugins or third-party chat widgets.
- We do not currently use analytics. If we turn on Google Analytics, it will load only after you choose “Allow analytics” in the cookie banner.
- Some forms save your answers in your own browser so that you do not lose work. That information stays on your device unless you submit the form.
2. Cookies
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| __Host-ccsid | Keeps your session secure while you complete a form, use the portal, use the website assistant or work in the administration area. It also carries the security token that protects forms against forged submissions. | Essential, first-party, HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax | Until you close your browser. The session ends on our server after 2 hours of inactivity; portal sessions end after 12 hours at most. |
| __Host-ccdev | Recognises this browser when you sign in, so that we can show which devices use your account and alert you to sign-ins from a new device. It contains a random value. We store only a one-way (hashed) form of it, linked to the accounts that signed in from this browser. | Essential (account security), first-party, HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax | 400 days. If you delete it, your next sign-in appears to come from a new device. |
Essential cookies are needed for the site to work securely, so they cannot be switched off in the banner. You may block them in your browser settings, but forms, the client portal and sign-in will then not function.
3. Analytics
Analytics are not currently in use. If we enable Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful, the site will show a banner asking whether to allow analytics. Analytics will load only if you choose “Allow analytics”, and never on request forms, the Document Center, payment pages, the client portal, sign-in pages or the administration area. If you allow it, Google sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_<ID> (up to 2 years) and receives page addresses, browser and device information and your IP address. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer. Your choice is stored in your browser for 12 months.
4. Browser Storage on Your Device
| Item | What it holds | When it is removed |
|---|---|---|
Request form autosave (cc-draft-…) | The answers you type into a service request form, so you can come back to it on the same device. Files and the acknowledgment checkboxes are not saved. | When you submit, choose “Start over”, or after 14 days. |
Document Center entries (cc-fill-…) | What you type into a form you fill in your browser. | When you send or clear the form, or after 14 days. |
Website assistant conversation (cc-assistant-v1) | The chat in the current browser tab. | When you close the tab. |
Side-menu position (cc-nav:…, session storage) | How far the portal or dashboard side menu is scrolled, so it stays in place as you move between pages. | When you close the tab. |
Cookie choice (cc-consent) | Whether you allowed analytics, and when. | After 12 months, or when you clear site data. |
On a shared or public computer, use “Start over” on a form, or clear your browser’s data for this site when you finish.
5. Third-Party Pages
When you pay an invoice, you are taken to Stripe’s secure checkout page, and when you choose “Sign in with Google”, to Google’s sign-in page. Those pages are operated by Stripe and Google, which set their own cookies under their own policies. If spam protection by Cloudflare Turnstile is switched on for a form, Cloudflare receives your IP address and browser information to check that the submission is not automated.
6. Changes to This Policy
We will update this Policy before introducing any new cookie or similar tracking technology. The version number and effective date at the top of this page identify the current version.
